How do I create an AfriRem account?

Creating an account is simple and free:

  1. Visit our website or download the AfriRem app
  2. Click "Sign Up" and enter your full name, email, and phone number
  3. Verify your email and phone with the OTP sent to you
  4. Set a strong password and complete your profile

What is KYC verification and why do I need it?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is a regulatory requirement to prevent fraud and money laundering. AfriRem uses a stepwise verification system:

  • Level 1 (Basic): Email + phone verification — allows transactions up to $20
  • Level 2 (Full): Government ID + selfie verification — unlocks higher limits

Full verification is usually completed within 24 hours.

How do I send money to East Africa?

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your AfriRem account
  2. Click "Send Money"
  3. Enter the amount you want to send
  4. Select the recipient's country (Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, etc.)
  5. Enter recipient details (name, phone number or bank account)
  6. Review fees and exchange rate, then confirm
  7. Complete payment
